i was just wondering because i used to make towns n stuff in 3d so i want to try and make maps but i cant get the hang of making maps properly.
if they can i will start making maps n stuff aswell

There was a few plug ins for n old version of 3ds max, but i would advise agenst it because when modelling a map just say in ma x or another program there is things you could do that would end up creating bad geotremty.
Worldcraft is the best mapping app for quake imo but others use BSP so just try a few of them and see which one suits you best ( most likely Worldcraft Wink )

worldcraft is the one i tried ill watch some tuts on youtube or something. thanks for the info

are there any others that are not neccirily (i havent a clue how to spell that lol) as poweful but easier to use?

Wordcraft is the most powerfull and easest to use im afarid. If you had trouble finding tutorials tyr some of the source Hammer tutorials. Worlfcraft and hammer are almost the same thing. Hammer has more features for hl2 but the ui hasnt changed that much so they should help. There are good tuts on the vavle dev wiki.
